Daniel & Sam

There are some clients that I start working with a year before they close on a home. And there are other clients that call me out-of-the-blue to write an offer on the first (and only!) place I showed them. Daniel and Sam fall into the latter category.

I first met Daniel at a Starbucks in late 2016. A mutual friend (hi Jeremy!) had connected us. Over two coffees, I explained the homebuying process to him in great detail. We shook hands and went our separate ways.

On a summer day in 2018, my phone rang. I was at my parents’ house in Hinsdale, packing up to make my way back to the city.

“Hello, this is Melanie” I answered in my usual business tone.

To my surprise, it was Daniel from Starbucks. He and his wife, Sam, found a condo online that peaked their interest. He told me all about it, and I looked up comparable units on the MLS. We planned to meet the next day at the open house — it would be one of the warmest days of the year.

Daniel and Sam ended up loving the home IRL, and we wrote a strong offer that same day. They closed just one month later, and all at once, they became the proud owners of a bright and sunny three-bedroom condo in Ravenswood — one of Chicago’s most charming, peaceful neighborhoods.

Even though we only saw one home together, I still feel like I bonded with Daniel and Sam through the process. These two are some of the best (and coolest) clients I’ve ever had, from their sense of humor to their kindness toward me.

Sam sent me a few “after” photos of their condo. That sunshine pouring into the breakfast nook is everything. Congratulations, Daniel and Sam!
