Meet Maggie

When the hustling and bustling Chicago real estate market came to a screeching halt in March, I panicked. My firm watched as buyers cancelled purchase contracts and sellers pulled their listings from the MLS. Our team of three had a big sales goal for 2020 — suddenly, that number looked very far away.

But then came May, and all of the sudden, Melanie Everett & Company was busier than ever. I received emails and Instagram messages from new prospective clients almost every other day. Soon, it became crystal clear: We needed another broker!

Courtney joined my real estate team in 2018, and Candace came along in early 2019. I had no idea who the ideal fourth person would be. Girl? Boy? Older? Younger?

In late May, I wrote a post on Instagram and Facebook, hoping and praying it would reach the right person. I had dozens of phone calls with wonderful candidates of all backgrounds and experience levels, but it wasn’t until I received an IG message from one woman in particular that I felt like I may be onto something.

I met Maggie Witmer through a Park Community Church leadership meeting in 2015. We were sitting in plastic chairs on the second level of the massive Whole Foods on Kingsbury Street, and I remember learning that she’d also attended the University of Illinois (her, for four years, and me, for two). Over the last five years, I’ve bumped into Maggie around town and church — always saying “hi!” to one another, but that’s really it.

And so, on our first call this spring, I found myself smiling at my iPhone. Maggie — this girl I sort-of, kind-of knew — was polished, eager, kindhearted, concise, and detailed. I told her a little bit about what I was looking for, and she shared her career story with me as well. She seemed to be the perfect match.

Maggie and I scheduled a few more phone calls and exchanged emails through June, and in mid-July, we made things official: Maggie officially joined Melanie Everett & Company!

At M&Co., Maggie is representing buyers, sellers, and renters under the brand and alongside Candace, Courtney, and I. She is someone I can totally trust, and what’s more, she is a sharp communicator and organization queen. At 28 years old, she has several years of experience under her belt — I know our clients are in capable hands.

Below, you’ll find Maggie’s contact info and a quick Q&A. Welcome to Melanie Everett & Company, Maggie!

Best meal you’ve ever had? Roister‘s melt-in-your-mouth chicken paired with their zesty sides — and capped off with ember ice cream.

Fave design trend of 2020? Two-toned kitchens

Why M&Co.? I truly believe that the people you work with can make or break even the best of jobs. The women (and Andrew!) that embody M&Co. are that of class, determination, and spunk. I just knew I had to be a part of their team!
