Katherine

A guest post by Courtney Funkhouser

Katherine was referred to me by another client back in May 2019. She attended So You Want to Buy A Condo (back when they were in-person!) and chatted with me right after. She knew exactly what she wanted: to own a condo in her favorite building in the city, the building she had been renting at for a couple of years. We immediately got an MLS search set up and then we waited.

We would have a showing every couple of months, as units don’t come up often in this building. They were always just missing that “it” factor that most buyers come to know. Fast forward to January 2020 when she replied to an MLS email saying that she would love to check out this unit. We met the next day and sure enough, she fell in love and had that feeling she was waiting for. It had everything she was looking for: vintage details left untouched, an updated kitchen, and most importantly — dreamy views of the lake and Lincoln Park.

We quickly drafted and had her offer accepted the next day. She closed in March 2020, just as COVID was becoming a reality and restrictions were beginning — it was sadly the first closing I wasn’t allowed to attend, but I’m so glad she was able to get into her new home at just the right time.

Walking into Katherine’s home, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time (in the best way possible). From the gold-gilded building front door and original woodwork in the lobby, to the incredibly kind and helpful doormen, this building is a true 1930s gem. Katherine’s condo offers original parquet floors, built-in dining room hutches, and wainscoting throughout. She put her own touches on her new home and her style is simply gorgeous. She’s painted the dining room a deep and cozy green, invested in decor that is timeless, and welcomed home two adorable cats.
