Easter Sunday in Hinsdale

This Easter, we delighted in 70-degree weather and sunshine all day long — one of the most beautiful Easters ever! We spent Sunday at my parents’ house, and it was a sweet, special day that looked something like this:

Annie in her big sister’s hand-me-down yellow dress; Holly in a cornflower blue one. The four of us, piled in our car and driving the familiar way home to Hinsdale. This song on repeat. Hugs from my aunt and uncle, cousins, brother and sister-in-law, and parents. Blue and pink and green plastic eggs hidden around my parents’ living room. Darling little baskets for Annie and Holly. A devotional led by my dad just before brunch. Verses about Jesus, about his resurrection, about what it means for us as believers. My mom’s kitchen island overflowing with bagels and lox, quiches and salad, Danish cookies and carrot cake cupcakes, and even more.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.
