I can still remember my first meeting with Neil and Kristen. We sat around a small table at Intelligentsia on Broadway, and I listened intently as they described what they were looking for in a first home: three bedrooms, Lakeview, vintage but modern (an elusive combination).
On a warm day in July, Neil and Kristen closed on the most beautiful condo I had ever sold. It was 545 West Melrose #3. Since then, they have filled their home with memories of a life well-lived: hosting Thanksgiving for family, cooking many meals together (like Kristen’s homemade mango salsa), lounging in the living room, or heading out the front door to walk to one of their beloved neighborhood spots (Rocks is a favorite).
Kristen just accepted a new position in Texas, which means their time on Melrose is coming to an end far too soon. I am honored to bring their elegant space to the market.
The splendor of 545 West Melrose #3 is in the details. As soon as you cross the foyer of this vintage penthouse in Chicago’s beloved Lakeview East neighborhood, you will feel home – & for just a moment, you might even forget you are in the city. The living room is the first stunning space to note. Sunshine pours in through the northern bay windows, highlighting the built-in bookcases, molding & wainscoting, delicate bronze sconces, & a chandelier that truly crowns the room. From there, you’ll travel down the wide hallway toward the three bedrooms – each one outfitted with closets, custom lighting, & plenty of space for daily living. The bathrooms are remarkable, from the penny flooring to the subway tile. You’ll soon find the dining room & kitchen, updated with soapstone countertops, stainless appliances & more built-in shelving. Nothing has been spared in this truly rare Chicago home. Lastly, you will enjoy modern touches like in-unit laundry, central air, & one parking space.
