I’ve known Jakub since our DePaul University days. I was an undergraduate journalism student at the time, and Jakub was pursuing his graduate degree in the same field. We met while serving on a professional organization called the Society of Professional Journalists, and have stayed connected on social media since then (thanks, SPJ!).
My journalism days are far behind me, so when Jakub sent me a Facebook message about beginning his condo search, it was the best surprise. He told me he and his girlfriend, Julie, were on the hunt for their first place together.
Soon enough, we were going on showings together. Jakub was just as I remembered: laid-back, funny, super kind. I quickly learned that Julie was a perfect match. She shared many of Jakub’s qualities, but further, she was spirited and so genuine.
Jakub and Julie stumbled upon “the one” last April. It was a Lakeview walk-up that struck the ideal balance of vintage charm and modern upgrades. They wrote their offer, and quickly, we went under contract.
I loved their closing day. I remember driving down Lake Shore Drive blasting Maggie Rogers (their fave) as we headed toward the title company. It was a joy-filled occasion, as I felt like they had become so much more than clients — friends!
Since closing, Jakub and Julie have been busy. They moved in, got engaged (!!!), and made their house a home. I couldn’t be happier for these two to enjoy this sweet stage of life. Congratulations, J and J.
