Josh & Jackie

A guest post by Courtney Funkhouser

Jackie and Josh were some of my first clients when I got into real estate in late 2017, so it’s only fitting they would be my first blog post. They attended So You Want To Buy a Condo in the springtime and reached out to start the search soon after. I remember being so nervous for the buyer consult, but I instantly felt at ease with Jackie and Josh. The conversation flowed smoothly and they couldn’t have been kinder. Plus, they are dog people like me, so it was easy to bond with that in common.

We met on a Tuesday at our WeWork office, and already had our first tour day set up for Sunday that same week. At our consultation, they told me they were super decisive and knew exactly what they were looking for: a 2-bedroom with plenty of room for a dining table, entertaining space, and room for their pup, Janet. I told them it was uncommon to find “The One” on their first day out and not to be discouraged if that was the case, to which they replied, “Challenge accepted!”

We saw six places that Sunday and they attended an open house earlier in the morning solo since I couldn’t accompany. We stayed at our last showing at a vacant condo, sitting on the kitchen counters for almost an hour, going over the pros and cons of each unit. Later that night, they let me know they were 99% positive they wanted to move forward on the open house condo, but wanted me to see it with them first. The condo already had multiple offers, but the listing agent let us see it on Monday morning before submitting an offer.

I saw the condo the following morning with them and after the showing they told me they were positive they wanted to move forward. They submitted an offer along with the sweetest letter to the seller. The seller loved their letter so much, they went with their offer even though they weren’t the highest one! This is why we love advising our clients to include this personal touch — even though it seems like a small gesture, it can mean the world to a seller.

Since they’ve closed on their Lakeview condo, they’ve removed wallpaper, painted walls, kitchen cabinets, and truly made the home their own. The before & after pictures speak for themselves. I couldn’t love what they’ve done with the space more! Thanks for trusting me, Jackie and Josh. I’m so thankful we could go on this journey together!
