Mike & Cat

I’ve known Cat for a long time. We met our freshman year of high school at Hinsdale Central, and I’m pretty darn sure we were in the same biology class. Our houses were just a few blocks away from each other — both of our families have moved since then.

Cat’s now-husband, Mike, was a few years older than us. I remember him as popular and hilarious. Mike was one of two “Social Chairs,” responsible for making the whole school laugh during pep rallies and the Variety Show. At some point, Cat and Mike met, and the rest is history. They studied at Indiana University, moved to Lincoln Park and got married.

Cat and Mike reached out to me last fall to talk about purchasing their first place. I loved getting to know them as a newlywed couple — I even got to befriend their cockapoo, Pip. We saw a handful of condos in Lincoln Park before finding one that they loved: a penthouse unit with treetop views, two bedrooms and tons of living space (1700 square feet, if we’re counting). Best of all, there’s a private rooftop deck. We made an offer and went under contract. They closed in November.

I really love their home, and Cat has kept me posted on progress through the seasons. She sent me some recent ones (right below), and at Christmastime, she showed me her perfectly festive mantel (at the bottom). Congratulations, you guys. Your home is a special one.
