After many years of living in the beloved West Loop, Sean and Chrissy decided it was time to make the move out to the suburbs. An open concept space for entertaining, a large backyard and a two-car garage were all on their wish list. We set our sights on the western suburbs to be close to both of their families (Sean and Chrissy are high school sweethearts!) and kicked off our search in July.
The market had just started taking a turn after a red-hot seller’s market in the spring. Homes were taking longer to sell and there was finally room for negotiation again – something we welcomed with open arms! After a few tour days, Sean and Chrissy fell in love with a raised ranch just minutes from where they both grew up. We put in an offer and, after a smooth transaction, the place was theirs just in time for the fall.
Sean and Chrissy immediately got to work renovating their new home and the results are stunning. Refinished floors, a kitchen refresh and elegant built-ins take this space to a whole new level. Check out the finished product below!
A few quick questions for Sean & Chrissy:
How many homes did you look at before finding yours? 7-10
How did you know this was The One? We fell in love with the open concept living area and the fact that it was really the perfect space for entertaining! We also loved the privacy of the backyard with a large deck perfect for summer parties! Additionally, we loved that the house was essentially a blank slate for us to come in and redecorate exactly the way we wanted to without having to do any construction!
What is the very best feature in your home? We love our open floor plan in the main living area! Having an entirely open kitchen, living room, and dining room has made hosting so easy and will be nice when we have kids!
Which room do you spend the most time in? We spend the most time in our living room, for sure! It’s cozy but has tons of natural lighting, and it’s just the perfect spot to relax or entertain.
Go-to restaurant in your neighborhood? We love Lima Fresca, a Mexican restaurant in Seven Bridges. The blueberry margarita is a must-try!
Share your fave memory in your home! We already have so many favorite memories! One favorite was definitely our closing day, where we had the entire family over for pizza and a bonfire with nothing but paper plates and lawn chairs! We are also expecting a baby girl in June, and we will never forget sharing this news with our family at our first Thanksgiving hosted in our new home! We also shared the news with our closest friends at our house warming party, which was extra special!! We can’t wait to enjoy so many more great times in this home, soon as a family of three!
