Spencer & Hattie

A guest post by Candace McCutcheon

Hattie and Spencer kicked off their home search in early August. After a whirlwind of unexpected activity in the Chicago real estate market the past few months, inventory seemed to be normalizing and I was hopeful for my new buyers.

As long-time Lincoln Park residents, they knew this was the neighborhood they wanted to call home. Hattie and Spencer love to cook (Spencer shared with me during their inspection that they try never to repeat a recipe!) so a spacious and inviting kitchen was at the top of their priority list. With both of them working from home as well as having family frequently stay from out of town, multiple bedrooms was also a necessity. Finally, they wanted an outdoor space for their new pup Leo to enjoy (check him out on Insta: @lincolnparkleo).

After a handful of showings, we found “the one.” As we stepped into the condo, I watched Hattie and Spencer’s eyes light up, taking in all the details: the pristine all-white kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances, the gorgeous coffered ceilings, wainscoting and crown molding, the two spacious and private outdoor areas. This checked all the boxes.

We quickly made an offer that the sellers accepted. They closed just three days after their one-year wedding anniversary.

While 2020 has brought on many challenges, it’s people like Hattie and Spencer, who continue to seek out the positive amidst the chaos, that keep me moving forward.
