Chris and Dana weren’t in a rush to find a new house. “We want to wait until we find the perfect place,” they told me. They wanted this to be their forever home.
We toured a number of houses — from charming historic Glen Ellyn homes to beautiful new construction Hinsdale homes — but nothing felt quite right. Chris and Dana kept coming back to a listing on the private network that had very little information and photos that left much to be desired. We decided to go take a look.
I think we were inside for less than a minute before Chris and Dana knew this was the house they had been waiting for. The original owners, who still lived here at the time, designed this home with so much love and care — you could truly feel it the second you walked in the door. I know they will be happy here for many, many years to come!

How many homes did you look at before finding yours? 10-15
How did you know this was The One? My running joke with Candace during our search was that I desperately wanted to find an 80s or 90s Mom's Dream Home - something that had been built to fit the needs of a young family, with touches a brilliant mom would prioritize. Our house has a laundry chute! A darling window between the kitchen & sunroom where you can pass snacks & drinks! Pocket doors throughout the first floor so you can host friends without disturbing sleeping babies upstairs! These thoughtful touches throughout the layout of the home made us so excited and we look forward to slowly making our own enhancements over the years we’re blessed to be here with our babies.
What is the very best feature in your home? The brick surround & hand-painted Mexican tile backsplash above our range. One of the tiles was even customized with the previous family’s name - so sweet!
Which room do you spend the most time in? The sunroom, by far. Chicagoans know the importance of chasing any sun you can get during the long winter and that room has been a dream with all the natural light. It’s also become a darling space for our toddlers to do art projects & play together and with their new friends in the neighborhood.
Go-to restaurant in your neighborhood? Portillos ;) Greater proximity to hot dogs & french fries was a real selling point for our 3 year old! My husband and I have also really enjoyed Petite Vie in Western Springs.
Share your fave memory in your home! Our first Christmas here! We hosted both sides of our families on Christmas Eve and got to watch the cousins gleefully open presents and run laps around the house with cookies in their hands. Was a truly magical day and a realization of our dream for this new home to be constantly filled with family & friends.
