Educating buyers since 2015

We have a passion for educating first-time homebuyers. Since our first class in 2015, we’ve helped educate over 5,000 homebuyers through our online classes, in-person events, & partnerships with companies like Deloitte, Uber, & Salesforce.

During our class, taught alongside our go-to mortgage broker, you’ll learn about the seasonal real estate market, how much to budget for closing costs, what a home inspector is looking for, & more.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We recommend starting your search about 4 months before your lease is up. We find that most of our clients find their home within 2 months of searching, & closing is typically another 30-60 days after that. If you’re looking for something very specific, or if inventory is very limited, your search period may be longer. If you have a flexible living situation (consider asking your landlord if you can rent month-to-month!), this can help take pressure off your search.

  • If you’re financing your purchase, you’ll want to secure a pre-approval letter. This is a review by your lender of how much money you can borrow. Your lender will look at your debt, income, assets, & credit to determine the amount. You’ll need to submit this pre-approval letter with any offers!

  • There will be a bundle of one-time fees that are paid when you purchase a home. These include attorney fees, lender fees, title company fees, & more. You should budget 2-3% of your purchase price for this.

  • Not typically! The buyer’s real estate agent is historically compensated by the home seller. If the seller of a particular home is not offering compensation to the buyer’s agent, there are a few avenues we can explore.

  • When a seller lists their home, their agent enters it into the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), a database that agents & their clients have access to. If a listing is marked as private, it won’t be shared with public websites like Redfin & Zillow, but it will still be included in your morning MLS emails.

In addition to private listings, your agent will keep an eye out for pocket listings – these are listings that aren’t listed anywhere, but we discover through relationships with our fellow real estate agents.

The M&Co. Buyer Glossary

You’ve probably noticed there are a lot of industry terms in real estate: earnest money, escalation clause, & pre-approval, just to name a few! We created the M&Co. Buyer Glossary to help cut down on the learning curve when you start your search. These are the top 50 terms you’re likely to come across during your search!

Just drop your email below, & we’ll send it to you via email! We’ll also make sure you’re the first to know when our next So You Want to Buy a Condo class is scheduled.
