AT HOME WITH

Johnny & Taylor

West Town, Chicago

Johnny & Taylor were searching for a penthouse with a private rooftop. After 2 multiple-offer situations, they secured the property. With a little vision, hard work, & TLC, they brought this home out of the 2000s & straight to Chicago charm.

I first met Taylor & Johnny in March of 2021. They were engaged, planning to get married at the end of the summer, & ready to purchase their first home together. They knew exactly what they were looking for: a penthouse with a private rooftop. They loved old Chicago charm with modern updates.

We had our marching orders & hit the ground running with their search. The spring market in 2021 was insane, to say the least – most homes were getting multiple offers within days of going on the market. Thankfully, we only had to endure one multiple-offer situation before finding “the one”. It was another multiple-offer situation, but Taylor & Johnny’s offer was the winning bid. We secured the condo below the list price, so there was room in their budget to make the updates they planned for.

Taylor & Johnny are visionaries & were able to see past cosmetic items that needed tweaking to be perfect. This unit was the right size with the right outdoor space in the right location – it just needed a little TLC to take it out of the early-2000s & add some charm.

Since purchasing this unit, Taylor & Johnny have put a lot of love & elbow grease into this home, & it is truly unrecognizable. From the re-finished floors, to the painted window frames, to the wallpapered ceiling in baby J’s room, to the gorgeous kitchen & bathrooms… they created “old Chicago vintage charm” in a 2007 building that I didn't know was possible. I am beyond impressed with the final outcome! I am honored to have worked with these two & that we get to share their home with the world!
