Bret & Sarah were on the hunt to trade in their high-rise views for a spacious backyard. When a house in the neighborhood Sarah grew up in came on the market, they knew they had to have it!
Since moving in, they've been busy renovating the kitchen & welcoming home their second daughter!
Sarah & Bret owned a beautifully-renovated condo right in the heart of the Loop. After welcoming their little girl Amelia, they decided it was time to trade in their high rise views for a spacious backyard. I met with them last May to discuss what they were looking for in their suburban home & when they wanted to make the move. “No rush, whenever we find the right place!” Sarah replied.
Just a few days later, a house came on the market in the same neighborhood where Sarah grew up. 5 bedrooms, an open-concept floor plan, a fully finished basement, the perfect location — this was truly their dream home. We immediately scheduled a showing.
When we stepped inside the front door, I could tell by the look on Sarah & Bret’s faces that this was the one. The market was hot & we knew there would be multiple offers. I called the agent & said my clients NEED this house, tell me what we have to do. We submitted our offer & crossed our fingers. Hours later we received the call — they got the house! I will never forget the pure joy in their voices when I called them with the good news.
Sarah & Bret recently renovated their kitchen (pics below!) & welcomed their newest addition, Lily. I am so lucky to represent these wonderful clients!
A Few Quick Questions for Sarah & Bret
How many homes did you look at before finding yours? We only spent one day looking at homes. We saw two other houses before we found ours. The second we saw ours there was no need to keep looking!
How did you know this was The One? Our home is in the neighborhood I grew up in so I knew that this was a perfect neighborhood to raise a family. The second we drove up to the home, I knew it was the one. I literally had tears in my eyes as we were walking through the house because I could picture us raising our family here. It was very clear that this was a happy home filled with family time and memories and life and all the things we wanted for our future.
What is the very best feature in your home? My favorite thing about our house is that it is very open and has tons of natural light. I love the airiness and the open design makes it perfect for our family because we are all close and together.
Which room do you spend the most time in? We spend the most time in the family room and kitchen, which are connected. Our family room is where we play and have movie nights, and we spend lots of time in the kitchen cooking together.
Go-to restaurant in your neighborhood? Jin 28 for carry-out and Vasili’s for date nights!
Share your fave memory in your home! About a week after we officially moved into our home, I found out I was pregnant with our second daughter! So our memories in this home were instantly special! I’m so grateful we found this beautiful home for our growing family!
